November 3, 1989
Clear Fork defense ends Mustang season
The Allen East defense, as it had done to opponents all
season long, had denied, smothered. swarmed and more importantly
kept out of the end zone, Bellville Clear Fork.
Until the penalty, in the fourth quarter... Clear Fork rallied in the
fourth quarter to upend Allen East 7 - 6 in a Division V high school
football Regional playoff game at Madison High's Ram field here
Saturday Night.
Allen East, which made it's first ever appearance in the playoffs,
concludes the season at 9-2.
The Mustangs appeared to have the game under their control. With
8:40 left in the fourth quarter, Allen East forced Clear Fork to punt with
the ball on the Colts' eight yard line.
However, the Clear Fork punter, Ron Fife was knocked down in his
own end zone following his kick and the Mustangs were called for
roughing the kicker.
